Eddie

Eddie came form a local rescue centre. We had just lost our last Rotweiller and missed having one after a spate of burglaries where we had some animals stolen, we chose Eddie primarily as a pet put also for guard. He loves nothing more than lying on the sofa in front of the fire much to Uggles’ horror. He is good with all the animals and fine with people while understanding that he is on guard when required. He had a terrible start in life and was badly abused but that doesn’t seem to have damaged his temperament.

Sophie

Sophie came as a puppy because her owners went away on holiday leaving her with a neighbour and then ringing to say they would not be returning! The neighbours couldn’t keep her as they worked and from an early age she kept escaping from the house to follow me so she stayed.

Spotty

Spotty had had rather a bad start in life. He had been kept chained up most of the time outside and had not been fed properly. When he first came he would only eat food sprinkled on the floor but now he has grasped the concept of proper meals in a bowl! He is very playful and loves all the other animals and people despite his bad experiences and is generally adorable. He loves to be cuddled and told he has been good.

Bruno

Bruno was found as a starving skeleton wondering loose. The dog warden was informed but came out once and said he couldn’t be caught so left him. My young nephew caught him after four days under a tree and at first he was very aggressive with the other dogs and behaved as though he had only ever been chained or kennelled. He always loved people and now gets on well with all the other dogs and loves nothing more than a cuddled on your lap on the sofa!

Helga

Helga had a terrible start in life she was tied up in the back garden of a house in London and beaten and starved but when this was reported to the RSPCA they said this could not be proved so nothing could be done. She was then taken by the next door neighbour who couldn’t keep her so a couple with a young family took her in. She was terrified of everything not surprisingly but with patience she improved and was always very good with the children including a young baby. As she was so nervous of strangers she was kept locked in a flat all the time and only walked at night. The owners were finding it difficult to cope so asked if I would take her as they were worried about her going to kennels where she wouldn’t be able to cope. She is now a great dog, much less nervous of people, good with children and excellent at the agility classes she goes to.

Toby

His owner said he was vicious and he was about to be put down at only two years old
