Meet The Rabbits

This all began with Martine who came from a pet shop where she had been ill, the owner decided to keep her inside. She lived in the bedroom but needed a friend (who should have been a girl), but sadly I trusted the lady I brought ‘her’ from and didn’t check. A few months later when Martine produced ten babies (sadly one died), the boys went to a lady who has them in a shed in her garden and the girls I kept, unfortunately the father Colt died unexpectedly a short time ago. Recently Martine and Celeste were stolen but then recovered. Beatie and Ambrose tend to be found together.

I had a phone call from a man saying six rabbits had been dumped in cardboard boxes on his doorstep in the rain, could I take them?

This group are now Known as

Margaret, Thatcher, Albert, Einstein, Isaac & Newton

Martine Martineb.jpg (15757 bytes) Albert Albert.jpg (6118 bytes)

Albert is a lop rabbit and very sweet-natured and now he has been castrated lives with the two girls and Einstein

Christine

Christine

I found her in a tiny cage in the pet shop. She had been isolated for being aggressive and as she was much older than the other babies and not that appealing her chances of finding a home was not good. I didn’t like to think of her being on her own for the rest of her life so brought her and she now lives happily with Einstein, Albert, Margaret and Thatcher

Celeste   Celeste.jpg (16475 bytes) Einstein Einstein.jpg (11935 bytes)

Einstein was a bit of a bully to Albert and certainly the youngest out of the six. He has calmed down a lot now he has been castrated

Samantha

SamantaBrought on a spur of the moment decision by a young girl who should have taken more thought as she spent most of her life in a small cage and only let out occasionally, she then became aggressive when she was returned to her cage. She is now very happy sharing a large house and run with Clyde and two chickens for company!

 Beatie Beatie2.jpg (20662 bytes) Isaac Isaac.jpg (13714 bytes)

Isaac was in a bad state when he arrived at the sanctuary, he had an abscess under his chin which was so infected it was stopping him eating and drinking properly. Once it had been lanced and cleaned up he was much happier and has now really begun to thrive

Ambrose Ambriose.jpg (14417 bytes) Dandelion & Daisy Dandelion

Daisy

This adorable pair were found abandoned by the side of the busy main road near Luton Airport! An ill – thought through purchase just before a holiday! These two were barely old enough to have left their mother, a third was killed before it could be caught. They are devoted to each other, they probably feel they are the only ones they trust! NO tame rabbits can safely be released into the wild just as you or I could not survive in The Amazon Rainforest. I am opposed to putting any healthy animal to sleep but YOU DO NOT absolve your responsibility by dumping instead. Picture these to as tiny baby humans and then think about how disgusted you would be!

Margret Margret.jpg (21048 bytes)

Margaret was the most nervous and in quite poor condition although she has settled in well now.

Clyde Clyde

Sadly Bonny, Clyde’s companion died very suddenly and unexpectedly but thankfully he was content with Samantha as his friend

Newton Newton.jpg (12035 bytes)

Newton lives with Isaac and is more nervous but getting friendlier. He is the most beautiful colour I have ever seen.

Thatcher Thatcher.jpg (13641 bytes)

Thatcher was very friendly and rather over- weight and went in with Margaret straight away.
